Crystal Focus Saber Core 4.X - Parameters

One special feature of Crystal Focus Saber Core is the configuration data, which is set separately in every sound-bank. So one can set different settings in every sound-bank.

These settings last from the current that runs the high power LED, over the switch you use or the "movie flicker", movie accurate flickering of the blade, up to fine tuning of the sensitivity.

These 44 parameters open up almost endless possibilities to adjust the saber just at ones own style. Easy factors, as the current of the LED or the used switch should be set when doing the first test, but one should take some time when configuring the more complex values. Best thing one can do is to change just one parameter and then to look how it look. If you are happy with the result of that part, go to the next.

Here we have a table with the different parameters and descriptions:

Parameter Werte Beschreibung
switch [0,1,2] Polarity of the activation button / switch.
0 = normally closed; 1 = normally open, 2 = push button (momentary)
led [0 ; 70] LED current.
32 = 750mA

60=1.3A
70=1.5A
n = 0.15 x current (A) x 1024 / 3.3
ls [0 ; 255] Low thresh for activating swing-sounds
lc [0 ; 255] Low thresh for activating clash-sounds
hs [0 ; 255] High thresh for activating swing-sounds
hc [0 ; 255] High thresh for activating clash-sounds
ss [1 ; 15] swing hardness factor, increase this parameter for doing fast swings without triggering a clash effect. But soft hits may be misinterpreted as swings.
sc [1 ; 15] clash hardness factor, if you increase this parameter, you have to hit harder to trigger a clash.
i [0.7 ; 0.95] Overall sensitivity of the gestural detection
gx [1. ; 3.0] X-axis sensitivity of the sensor
gy [1. ; 3.0] Y-axis sensitivity of the sensor
rand [1. ; 3.0] Random mode of swing & clash sounds.
0=random;1=sequence;
2=gesture selection
frq [90 ; 150] Sound samplerate playback speed. Defines the global pitch of the saber sound
shmrd [10 ; 500] Duration of the visual clash effect (luxeon shimmering) - 130 to 180 ms works well
shmrp [5 ; 25] Periodicity of the flashes during the clash effect.
Low value = close flashes
shmrr [0 ; 25] Randomness on the periodicity of the flashes
xflashd [10 ; 500] Auxiliary flash duration
dyshft [10 ; 500] Dynamic pitch shifting on swing sound Fx based on the gesture hardness. In % of the Main pitch (frq)
50 works fine.
shft [0 ; 100] Static pitch shifting modifying the pitch of the hum or blade lockup fx only. Pitch is lowered, when saber is down and at normal pitch when the blade is up. In % of the frq.
50 works fine
grav [0 ; 255] Zero point where the hum will start zo be modified by the static pitch shifting effect (shft).
Generally setup from 127 to 140.
buf [9] Reserved parameder - DO NOT CHANGE
noise [7 ; 25] Silence threshold of the gestural detection. To be set to the same value as ls in general
sample [10 ; 20] Gesture sample number used in the gesture recognition algorithm
DO NOT MODIFY.
swing [0 ; 500] Swing audio offect rate limitation delay. Delay in ms before authorizing another swing effect. To be set to ¼ of the average swing duration for best performance.
gtsl [100 ; 300] Low boundary of the Gesture Time Scale (random mode 4).Must be < gtsh
gtsh [200 ; 800] High boundary of the Gesture Time Scale (random mode 4). Must be > gtsl
blastp [0 ; 1] Enables or disables the blaster priority over swings. When enabled, swings are disabled until the end of the blaster of force sound.
lockup [0 ; 1000] Delay before activating the blade lockup effect. 50 to 150 works well
qon [0 ; 1] Allows to instantly turn the blade on without the progressive ramp-up effect synchronized with the power on sound
qoff [0 ; 1] Allows to instantly turn the blade off without the progressive retraction effect synchronized with the power off sound
offp [0 ; 1] Aux button to confirm powering off the saber.
0 disables the function
onp [0 ; 1] Aux. button to confirm powering on the saber.
0 disables the function
reboot [0 ; 1] Aux. button can reboot the saber. 0 disables the function
valsnd [0 ; 1] or disables the confirmation of the selected sound font in the vocal menu
ffx1 [0 ; 1] Aux. button can activate the Force push effect 1 (aux. button + swing).
0 disables the function
ffx2 [0 ; 1] Aux. button can activate the Force push effect 2 (aux. button + clash).
0 disables the function
mute [0 ; 1] 0 = normal operation
beep [0 ; 127] The volume of the beeps emitted by the module when rebooting the unit with the aux button or when using iSaber
rgb [0 ; 3] Defines which LED to use in a RGB setup.
0 disables the effect
lbat [0 ; 1024] Low battery detection threshold.
n = (Threshold-voltage / 12.21) x 1024
flckrs [0 ; 20] Energy "movie flicker".
0 disables the effect
3=fast flicker;
20=slow flicker
flckrd [0 ; 500] Energy flickering depth.
0 disables the effect
70=shy flicker;
200="damaged saber" flicker
flckrp [0 ; 100] Energy flickering pulse mode. %value of the pulse effect. 80 pulses between 20% and 100% of nminal brightness.
0 disables the effect
flckrg [0 ; 50] Energy flickering pulsing ramp grain. Defines the step of the pulsing ramp. A low value makes a smooth but slow ramp.
brk [0.5 ; 0.99] Breakpoint, where ignition/retraction of the blade is slowed down.
slp [0.01 ; 0.88] Slow down of the ignition/retraction of the blade, that happens after the breakpoint defined in brk

The values hc, lc, hs and ls limit the area of movement, in that swings or clash are played. Depending on the speed of ones movement one may has to change these values. E.G. if a clash is triggered while doing a swing, the factor has to be raised. Area A is the area where a swing is triggered, area B the one for clashs. It is important to leave a dead area between lc and hs to make sure the right sounds are played.
