Obi-Wan Kenobi ROTS Force FX Lightsaber (2006)
First Impression:
The first thing you see is the “neck” that is too thick, nevertheless it looks high quality, since you have the black grip and the golden neck.
The hilt is assimilated well and close to the original, only the neck is much more thicker, like at the Luke Rotj.
Handling:
The saber is ran with 3 AA batteries and so it is lighter than those, that are powered with 6 AA batteries, as i.e. Mace Windu ROTS. But it is heavier than the Anakin ROTS and very top-heavy. Because of the saucer-shaped emitter the saber feels goed in the hand and is suitable for all tricks.
Light and Sound:
The blue blade glows very bright, it is even brighter than an Anakin ROTS. You can see the difference on daylight. The soundmodule is the same as in the Anakin ROTS, but the different resonant chamber makes the Obi-Wan sound higher, not that aggressive and not that loud as the Anakin ROTS.
Wearout:
There is no real wearout on this saber, all in all it is very robust, as there are no distant parts that can get damaged.
Conclusion:
The Obi-Wan Kenobi FX is a very nice saber, ideal for beginners, because it is easy to grip. For collectors this saber will be second choise, as it isn’t that detailed with the thicker neck. A further plus point is the very bright blade. But the top-weightiness makes the saber seem very heavy in the hand. But everyone has to know for himself if he prefers a top or hilt heavy saber. This Saber don't depose over other versions. The release date was May 18, 2006.
