Mace Windu ROTS Force FX Lightsaber (2010)
First Impression:
At first sight one notices the polished golden hilt.
The colors are close to the saber from the movies, although the hilt still is the same size as the old version of Master Replicas.
If one knows this forerunner there are no obvious differences.
Handling:
For it is the same size like the original version of Master Replicas, the hilt is relatively thick compared to other FX-Lightsabers. Despite the hilt not having any distracting or outstanding parts, it looks rather clumsy while doing tricks and spins.
Moreover the saber is well-balanced because of the reduced weight by using only 3 AAA batteries - easy spins are simple to perform.
For the activator is placed right within the gripping range, the chance of switching the saber on and off by accident is very high.
Light und Sound:
Actually the 64 LEDs are blue, a red plastic casing around the LED-strip produces the violet color of the blade, that is unique under the FX-Lightsabers. Depending on how fully charged the batteries are, the violet color highly fades into the blue.
After all one can see a difference when comparing this blade to a blue one.
The sound configuration has not changed at all, the saber offers the usual 4 clash- and 3 moving-sounds.
Wearout:
By the time the hilt's golden color starts to fade and grows matt, so the hilt does not look as noble anymore but a bit washy instead.
Conclusion:
The Mace Windu ROTS FX-Lightsaber by Hasbro is a well-done remake of the old version of Master Replicas.
Unfortunately nothing has changed to the better, although nothing has changed to the worse as well.
For the fans of the Jedi-Master this saber naturally is a must-have edition, for all others it is a nice collectible.
