Anakin Skywalker ROTS Force FX Lightsaber with removable blade (2010)

First Impression:
Even those who are used to the normal Anakin Skywalker FX-Lightsaber are not able to distinguish if the saber is with or without removable blade. The outer construction has not changed at all.
Handling:
The Anakin fits the hand well in a familiar way. Through the slight top-heaviness the saber is perfectly made for doing tricks and throws. Nonetheless the clamp may seem disturbing, because it is quite sharp-edged. Moreover there is a good chance of switching the saber on and off accidently while doing tricks because of the inconvenient position of the switch at the clamp.
Light and Sound:
Like in the old Anakin FX-Lightsaber 64 LEDs illuminate the saber's blade. Therefore the saber is of course not usable for any combat and fighting, even though the blade is removable now. By doing so the button underneath the ears has to be unscrewed. The sounds have been worked over completely by Hasbro.
Now the 3 swing- and 4 clash-sounds are much louder (CF-volume!), more clearly and aggressive.
The power-on and -off sounds are good as well, although the changes from power-on sound to the normal buzzing of the saber and from there to the power-off sound are not as smooth as they should be; there always is a minimal pause. Furthermore there are two new sounds - one when one attaches the blade and the other when one detaches it.
On top of that one can hear the imitated sound of a short when the saber is switched on while the blade is detached. The saber runs with 3 AAA batteries. To change these, a plastic hull needs to be unscrewed, which covers the batteries for safety.
Abrasion:
The golden color of the clamp's plate as well as at the switch and the copper-eyes fades after some time and flakes.
Conclusion:
Especially because of the new and nice sounds the saber clearly sets itself apart from its counterpart with an attached blade. The removable blade of course is another excellent improvement. However the blade still contains the LED-strip, so the saber is not usable for any combat and fighting.

Resulting Mark: 10/10
